Asian Influences Tour

The Asian Influences tour will primarily look at Buddhist temples constructed in the post-war period. Sites will include the Honpa Hongwanji, which was built in 1918, and served as a prototype for temples built in a style which incorporated, Japanese, mughal and western forms. This temple had a major addition in 1954, and also a Japanese-modern administration building constructed in the 1950s. Other temples will include the Soto Zen temple and the Honolulu Myohoji. In addition two columbariums at Kyoto Gardens, which render Kyoto's Kinkaku-Ji and the Sanju Pagoda in Nara in concrete. Also included on the tour will be the former Chinese Consulate.

Individual tickets will be made available to those not registered for the Symposium six weeks prior to the event.
